As expected, with LTE, data subscribers now use much more data. They also buy bigger data plans. This is confirmed in a recent research release by Mobidia Technology, Inc., a provider of mobile analytics, in collaboration with Informa. The report, based on 8 months data ending April 2013 and leading LTE markets around the world, also showed that WiFi is fast becoming popular among smartphone users, especially for video applications. Operators are already looking into the WiFi as a complementary service offering to their LTE services, especially for subscribers who have access to multiple WiFi hotspots and public WiFis and for those who need cost effective packages for their data consumption.
“We are excited to make this set of LTE usage data and white paper available to the industry,” said Chris Hill, vice president of marketing at Mobidia. “Our data sets are the most comprehensive global view of LTE usage trends, generated by actual users, available today. While our latest white paper provides a compelling set of insights, it represents only a fraction of the data that is available for planning, benchmarking, and strategic decision making.”
